Wissoll Story

The company is located in Dubener Strabe in Delitzsh, where Albert Bohme and his brother in law Karl Hommel started their confectionery in 1894. At first they sold their products through the Delizsch market, fairs and latter on through family owned chocolate shops. The popularity of the chocolate soon spread to Leipzig and Halle and the company starts to emerge and grow from its humble beginnings. In 1906, the company is renamed “Delitzscher Schokoladenfabrik AG” (DSAG) and continues to remain firmly in the hands of the founding family. From the beginning, the management puts a lot of trust into the qualifications of their staff who are trained from within the company and in 1909 DSAG receives the official authorization to train apprentices from the city of Delitzsch. This is still one of the foundations of the company today.

After the two World Wars and during the time Germany was divided, the brand name Bohme was kept up in West Germany with a small range of chocolate, pralines, gummy sweets and brandy filled chocolates, distributed by the Wissoll brand. In the years of the GDR (German Democratic Republic or East Germany) the former Bohme AG was turned into a people’s enterprise by the socialist economy. Thanks to a hard working core of qualified employees, the knowledge and skills of chocolate manufacturing were preserved. After the reunification the company became a wholly owned subsidiary of Wissoll. In the following years, Wissoll turns the Delitzsch location into one of the most modern praline factories in the world with the support of the district of Delitzsch. This firmly reestablishes and revives the Bohme Delitzscher Company.

Today the chocolate factory in Delitzsch is a subsidiary of Halloren Schokoladenfabrik AG and with the re-launch of the Delitzsher brand, which enjoys an excellent reputation in the surrounding areas; the company is going back to its local roots. They are intently trying to further develop the brand, with a comprehensive marketing campaign. Their private label business continues to grow and is of great importance to the company. Delitzscher Schokoladenfabrik Gmbh is proud of their expansion and growth in Eastern and Western Europe, North/South America and Asia. The continued popularity of their Wissoll liqueur filled chocolate beans continues to expand across the continents of the world.
