Rishi White Tea Story
Rishi tea began in 1997 when Joshua Kaiser, the founder and tea buyer,
realized that traditional handcrafted tea he was so fond of during his travels to Asia were rare anywhere else. Joshua felt
that North America would embrace artisan tea, just like they did single origin coffee and varietal wine if they could buy it at reasonable prices.
He felt that the same consumer that developed a taste for high end artisan coffee and wine would also appreciate fine organic premium tea.
Rishi Tea was founded with a commitment to a standard for quality and to expand the awareness of tea in its rich, inspirational tradition.
They offer superb loose-leaf tea imported directly from tea gardens across Asia.
Joshua enlisted a well-traveled and longtime friend Benjamin Harrison as a partner. The two, along with help from friends,
worked in a 400 square foot windowless space in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward district, hand-blending original botanical blends
and individually packaging premium teas imported from Asia. The space was outgrown and Rishi Tea moved into the Bay View area. However,
while production expanded, Rishi Tea preserved its founding principles of meticulous hand- blending, meticulous packaging and strict quality control.
