With roots back to 1814, Cemoi is the brand name for a French conglomerate of European brands producing a wide range of high quality confectionary products. Cemoi has a history of ups and downs, with several factories being destroyed by fire, resulting in down turns in their fortunes.

Since 1960 they have embarked on a plan of expansion, taking over many small producers of chocolate and confectionary products in Europe. In 1989 they re-asserted their French heritage and adopted the overall name of Cemoi. In the 1990’s they built their own bean processing plant in the Ivory Coast to assure better quality and shortly after they introduced their organic range. They have a commitment to quality and organic ideals. Currently they are partners with the WWF conservation group in France.

CEMOI is France's leading maker of private-label chocolate bars. The company also makes molded and panned chocolate, cocoa powdered truffles, cookies and wafers, sugar confectioneries, fruit jellies, sugared almonds, marshmallow, meringues, and industrial and semi-finished food ingredients. The company has 14 production plants, 10 in France, two in Spain, and one in Germany and the Ivory Coast. Today CEMOI is run by Georges Poirrier its founder.
