Anthon Berg Chocolate Story
In 1884, in the heart of Copenhagen, Denmark, a grocer named Anthon Berg decided to create chocolate creations in the back room of his grocery store.
In those days chocolate was considered a health related product, usually sold in pharmacies. A stubborn perfectionist with high principals,
his chocolate soon became popular with the middle and upper class in the city of Copenhagen.
It didn’t take long for lines to appear on the cobblestone street outside his store. With an early understanding of customer service and loyalty,
he soon started handing out small creations of his chocolate covered marzipan to cheer up those waiting on line.
He and his son, Gustav, who later joined him, created outstanding chocolate confections and offered unique taste combinations of only the highest quality.
In his 80’S, Anthon passed the company on to his son, who promised not to deviate from the family commitment to quality; a family tradition to this day.
For half a century, Anthon Berg has borne the distinguished title “Purveyors to the Royal Danish Court.” Today Anthon Berg is still producing products
of the finest quality and is famous for its liqueur filled chocolates in a variety of world famous liqueurs. It still makes the chocolate covered
marzipan creations in a number of different and exciting flavors. Just like the ones they used to give to the customers waiting in line outside the
original store.
